Support, integration and language learning

Local governments provide reception for specific groups of migrants based on available resources as well as on the type, capability, and competence level of the respective local authorities.

Important in this regard is the SPRAR (Asylum Seekers and Refugees Protection) System, a network of local authorities managing reception projects for asylum seekers and refugees. Local authorities and partners offer orientation measures, legal and social assistance as well as the development of tailored programmes for social-economic integration. SPRAR’s main objective is to provide a personalized path to employment and housing, accessing local services, social benefits and (child) education. SPRAR’s goal is to help beneficiaries to (re)acquire self-reliance, integrate effectively, and take part in Italian society.
